"Awakenings"
Starring Robin Williams who is the music producer, Robert DeNiro who is
the recording engineer, and The Static Port who, after lifetimes of playing
in challenged bands, have been given dosages of an experimental drug to
come out of their shells in 1969. Parallel to the cultural arising of Woodstock,
these four humble and very "special" musicians gradually rehearse
41 minutes of music. By the time Williams yells "Roll tape!" and
DeNiro points his big finger at them through the glass, The Static Port
launches into a tirade of well-mixed perfection for the ultimate solos,
a silky-smooth segue, and many instrumental varieties.
This
band is somehow driven by an outside force giving them extra arms, fingers,
and a time machine equipped with metal colanders and tangling tubes secured
to their skulls for funneling fluid through common hoses.
